Paulius Macas – an ambassador in agriculture.

Paulius is a young resident of Tauragė who has been developing an organic dairy farm since 2014. Inspired by his parents, who initiated organic farming, Paulius has embraced this idea and continues to pursue it.

The farmer, who completed veterinary studies, admits to being a self-taught agronomist at heart. “Organic farming is not just about avoiding chemicals; it is also a significant test and challenge to achieve results similar to those of conventional farms,” says Paulius.

Paulius is pleased to have achieved such results and takes pride in them, and now wishes to share his knowledge with other farmers. It is possible to grow feed for livestock that is not only organic but also sustainable. It is possible to grow 10 different plant species and rotate them throughout the seasons. However, not everyone is aware of this.

“Of course, this requires additional time investment—but after 2-3 years of work and experimentation, it is gratifying to see the soil composition improve while crop yields remain stable. This way, we not only take from nature but also give back to it. And nature reciprocates in kind,” he adds.

In Paulius’s view, more attention should be paid not to organic farming alone, but to sustainability and harmonious farming practices. For Paulius, agriculture is not a job; it is a great passion that surprises him with its challenges every day.
